Ofte spørsmål om betongimpregnering
What surfaces should I seal?
Exterior concrete in any region subject to freeze-thaw cycles should be sealed. In other regions, concrete should be sealed for specific purposes such as stain repellence, dust reduction, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance or to maintain an attractive appearance.
What happens if I don’t seal my concrete?
Concrete is a porous material that readily absorbs liquids. In freeze-thaw climates, the expansion of frozen liquids can destroy the surface of unsealed concrete. Oil, salt, fertilizer, and other household chemicals can discolor and damage unsealed concrete.
How long will my sealer last?
Because they penetrate the concrete, reactive chemical sealers will last the longest and generally only wear away if the substrate surface itself wears away, which maybe 10 years or longer.
Will sealer make my concrete slippery?
Reactive penetrating sealers generally have little effect upon the concrete surface profile or traction.
How will my sealed surface look?
That all depends on the type of sealer you apply. Most chemically reactive sealers are nearly invisible because they penetrate into the concrete. Solvent-based acrylic resin sealers and epoxies provide significant color enhancement and give concrete a high-gloss wet look. Water-based acrylic resin sealers provide moderate color enhancement and a satin appearance. Urethanes (generally applied as topcoat over epoxy) are available in a wide range of finishes, from matte to gloss. Many sealers can also be colored with translucent or opaque tints.
Hvordan vil min forseglede overflate se ut?
Alt avhenger av hvilken type tetningsmasse du bruker.
Primary benefits of epoxy floors.
Fordeler med epoksygulv
- Durability: First of all, when a concrete floor is treated with epoxy, it is guaranteed to immediately become considerably more resistant and therefore last longer. Long-term protection from such a simple and affordable enhancement.
- Strength: The epoxy used to protect concrete floors transforms into a solid polymer as it dries, which is unbelievably strong and resilient. It’s essentially like adding an additional coat of armor to your concrete floor.
- Quick and Easy:As already touched upon, epoxy can be applied quickly and easily, which in turn means little to no disruption whatsoever. When compared to most other examples of flooring, it’s an absolute breeze!
- Easy to Clean: Once everything has dried appropriately, the epoxy coating completely seals the surface of the concrete, meaning it is no longer porous. Which in turn means it all becomes exponentially easier to keep clean and dry.
- Aesthetics: You can choose from an extensive range of colors and patterns, to suit your own individual tastes and interior décor. Epoxy floors can be every bit as simple or elaborate as you want them to be.

Krakeleringer i betonggulv.
Crazing is the development of a network of fine random cracks or fissures on the surface of concrete or mortar caused by shrinkage of the surface layer. These cracks are rarely more than 3 mm deep and are more noticeable on steeltroweled surfaces. The irregular hexagonal areas enclosed by the cracks are typically no more than 40 mm across and may be as small as 20 mm in unusual instances. Generally, crazing cracks develop at an early age and are apparent the day after placement or at least by the end of the first week. Often they are not readily visible until the surface has been wetted and it is beginning to dry out. Crazing cracks are sometimes referred to as shallow map or pattern cracking. They do not affect the structural integrity of concrete and rarely do they affect durability or wear resistance.
Går dypt ned i betongen 3-6 mm.

Concrete floor makes every room cooler
Though concrete floors may be associated with cold, industrial spaces (or at their worst, creepy warehouse storage units). In fact, concrete floors can be surprisingly homey, inviting, and warm, all the while offering an edgy twang and modern grit that makes them undeniably cool. Best, they’re incredibly durable and super easy to clean.
Polished concrete is fast becoming the ultimate no-wax flooring material. With the proper floor polishing equipment and experience, contractors can grind concrete floor surfaces, whether new or old, to a high-gloss finish that never needs waxes or coatings. Factor in the superior durability and performance of concrete, and it’s no wonder why more retail, commercial warehouse and office facilities, and even homeowners are catching on to the appeal of these smooth, high-luster floors.
PROS
High Durability.
Polished concrete flooring is extremely strong and resilient and is able to withstand the pressure from very heavy foot traffic and equipment. It is very difficult to damage and is nearly impossible to chip or scratch.
Life-Span.
A properly installed, sealed and maintained polished concrete floor can be expected to last a hundred years or more in even the harshest commercial environments. Its life-span will also far surpass that of other floor coverings, such as carpeting, vinyl tile and wood laminates. That means in the long run you can save money because you’ll never need to remove and replace worn or damaged flooring.
Easy to Maintain.
Polished concrete flooring is relatively easy to maintain. You just have to dust mop or broom sweep daily to prevent dirt accumulation. You should also damp mop it weekly to remove smudging, scuffs, and water marks, and restore gloss. Depending on your polished concrete floor finish, you may have additional maintenance requirements.
Sanitary.
Properly finished and sealed concrete can be virtually resistant to fluids, especially water. Coatings can provide waterproof barriers that seal the concrete and prevent contaminants from actually getting to the concrete. Some coatings can also provide anti-microbial protection. And high quality concrete flooring shouldn’t have cracks or crevice in the surface that can trap food and dirt and harbor bacteria.
Slip-Resistant.
Any concrete surface can be slippery especially in moist environments or areas prone to spills, but, it can also be sealed with a non-slip epoxy coating to add texture and prevent falls and injuries.
Chemical-Resistant.
A non-sealed concrete floor is porous, although, concrete floors can be sealed with a chemical-resistant epoxy coating to protect them against extreme chemicals (alkalis and acids) and corrosion.
Thermal Shock-Resistant.
Thermal shock-resistant coatings can be applied to concrete flooring to ensure that disbondment, delamination, cracks, bubbles and other deterioration does not occur if your floors are subjected to very hot water or steam washes.
Static Dissipative.
An unsealed concrete floor often exhibits antistatic tendencies, although, they are dependent upon the floor’s moisture levels, making it unreliable. Anti-static coatings can be applied to concrete flooring to ensure static discharge doesn’t cause damage to static sensitive equipment.
No VOC.
Concrete floors do not contain harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) like hardwood floors, vinyl carpets and synthetic carpets.
Hvordan redusere statisk elektrisitet på laminatgulvet?
What is Static Electricity?
Static electricity is an electrical charge that is at rest – as opposed to electricity in motion or current electricity. Static charges can be generated by either friction or induction.
How is Static Electricity generated?
The most common generation of static charge is the triboelectric charge or the friction electricity developed when rubbing together and then separating two masses. For example, when two blocks are rubbed together and then separated, a triboelectric charge is developed on each block. The two blocks will have opposite polarities; one will be negatively charged and the other will be positively charged. Other examples include:
- Unwinding a roll of tape
- A person walking across a floor and soles contacting & separating from the floor.
The tendency for laminate floor coverings to electrically charge can have consequences for the user. A charge can build when an insulating material, such as insulating flooring, comes into contact to another material, such as footwear. For human beings the threshold of sensation is roughly 2 kV of body voltage when touching grounded objects.
1. Increase Your Home’s Humidity
The dry air in your home is the real reason why your laminate flooring is shocking you, so dealing with the dry air should be your first concern. You can easily increase your home’s humidity by using a vaporizer or by turning off the furnace when you don’t need it.
2. Buy Anti-static Laminate Flooring
If static build-up in your laminate flooring has become a serious problem or if you live in an area that is very dry in the winter, you may want to invest in specialty-made anti-static laminate flooring. Anti-static laminate is made by adding small carbon particles into the laminate during the manufacturing process. These particles are conductive, so static electricity does not build up and shock you. Not all companies make anti-static laminate flooring, so you will have to ask to make sure that the flooring you select is anti-static.
3. Keep Your Floors Clean
While the dust on your floor doesn’t cause the static electricity to build up, it can make the problem worse. Keep your flooring clean by regularly sweeping and mopping it to lessen the static electricity. There are special products you can buy, but regular laminate flooring cleaners work just as well.
4. Avoid Synthetic and Wool Clothing
While you may not want to purchase a whole new wardrobe to reduce a few minor shocks, choosing clothing made out of natural fibers can really help to reduce the number of shocks you get when walking across your laminate flooring. Start by wearing cotton socks, since they are the piece that actually touches the floor.

Care and maintenance of grinding or polished concrete floors
While the stain protection and densifiers do give your polished concrete floors a good protective layer, regular cleaning is recommended to get the most out of your floor and maximise its life span. However, the process is very straightforward.
Regular/daily cleaning as necessary:
- Daily cleaning consists of sweeping or vacuuming to remove any dust and debris
- Carefully removing anything sticky with a non-scratch implement
- Mop with warm water, ideally using a dry mop such as a microfibre mop
- Treat with a PH neutral concrete conditioner, applied as per the manufacturer’s instructions
- To keep a really high sheen in areas of high foot traffic you could burnish a dry surface with a floor polisher and a white buffing pad
- Cleaners with detergents are not recommended as they can leave a residue which is difficult to rinse off and collects dirt
Heavy duty cleaning:
- Heavy duty cleaning may be needed if the build-up of dirt and grime is too much for a light clean
- More thorough cleanse may also be required in busy commercial environments, such as restaurants
- Heavy duty cleaning can be carried out every three months, monthly or as required using a suitable cleaner and non-damaging buffer pads and tools, such as HTC green Twister pads
- The type of buffing pad required depends on whether you have a smooth or uneven surface on your polished concrete
How to clean spillages on polished concrete floors
While the coatings on our polished concrete floors are long-lasting and difficult to break down, it is recommended that any spillages are mopped up as quickly as possible as they can penetrate the surface if left too long.
If you do spill something on polished concrete flooring, the best advice is to clean it up straight away.
- First lift as much of the spill as possible with paper towel, a cloth, or other absorbent material
- Mop the remaining spillage with warm water
- If the spillage was acidic, such as lemon juice, vinegar, wine, bird droppings or animal excrement, adding PH neutral cleaner or other suitable alkaline cleaner to the water should aid cleaning and help neutralise the acid

What is Polished Concrete?
Polished concrete is concrete that has been processed through a series of mechanically ground “polishing/grinding” steps utilizing professional equipment designed for concrete polishing. This process also includes the use of concrete densifier/hardener which penetrates into the concrete and creates a chemical reaction to help harden and dust proof the surface. During concrete polishing the surface is processed through a series of steps (in general a minimum of 6-8 grinding steps of processing is considered polished concrete) utilizing progressively finer grinding tools. The grinding tools are progressive grits of industrial diamonds in a bonded material such as metal/hybrid/resin often referred to as diamond polishing pads.
What is the process for concrete polishing?
Concrete polishing has a standard step by step process that can be followed for most concrete floors; however, concrete floors vary in size, age, and damage, so it should be noted that each situation and circumstance is different, each floor will have its own history that will impact how a professional handles its future. Furthermore, a typical concrete process is as follows:
Your floors should be inspected by a professional to ensure that there isn’t a foundational issue with your concrete.
Any abrasions, chemical damages, holes, cracks, or residual coatings/paints will need to be fixed and removed.
Diamond grinding begins once your floors have been approved and this step will involve you stating how fine you want your floors ground.
A chemical hardener/densifier is added to strengthen the concrete floor after it has been ground.
The polishing process is the last process and the level depends on how much sheen is desired.
What are the benefits of polished concrete floors?
Whether you’re investing in polished concrete floors for a commercial, residential, or industrial property, they offer amazing benefits that fill all the needs you may have. Some of the benefits of a polished concrete floor include:
Money Savers. A polished concrete floor is the best way to save money, especially when you compare installation and maintenance to other flooring options.
Longevity. Polishing concrete floors can give you two or more decades with your floors with minimal to no maintenance.
Hygienic. When your floors are easily cleaned your space is easier to manage. Concrete polished floors are easy to clean and even easier to keep clean because they do not allow any liquids or debris to penetrate your concretes surface.
Resiliency at its finest. A polished concrete floor is resistant to wear and tear from high foot traffic, so if you are installing polished concrete floors in a commercial setting you can rest assured that they will last for years down the road. Polished concrete is also resistant to chemical breakdown, moisture, and staining. Moisture can create breeding grounds for bacteria and mold, ruining unprotected concrete.
Less maintenance than any other flooring option. Polished concrete floors do not require back-breaking care or intensive treatments to ensure long lifespans. They stay clean and are easily swept or mopped to be kept clean.
Glass-like finish. With a. glossy finish, polished concrete floors help brighten up any room they are installed in because they reflect the lighting in the said room.
Sustainability. Polished concrete floors do not use any hazardous coatings or materials. They do not require excess tools to install or remove flooring, so they do not create unnecessary waste.
Is Polished Concrete Slippery?
Because of polished concrete’s unique shine and high reflectivity, many people question if it is slippery. Generally speaking, when the concrete is clean and dry, it is generally no more slippery than plain concrete surfaces. In fact, polished concrete tends to be less slippery than waxed linoleum or polished marble.
Can concrete polishing remove oil stains?
Concrete polishing can remove certain oil stains. There are many factors involved that can change that, like the age of the concrete, the amount of any type of stain, and what coating was previously on the floor. The grinding and polishing process can revitalize a damaged floor but each case should be evaluated by a professional.
How Do I Maintain Polished Concrete?
Maintenance for polished concrete is very minimal, however, regular cleaning is still needed. Regular care includes occasional damp mopping to remove dust or grit. You may also consider use some neutral cleaner and conditioner that cleans the surface, and leaves behind a dirt-resistant film.
Except for high traffic areas, polished concrete will keep its shine for years. If it should ever dull, it is easy to restore. Sometimes simply buffing the floor with a commercial polishing compound will do the trick. If more touch-up is necessary, the floors can be lightly re-polished with a fine-grit abrasive.
Can you polish a damaged concrete floor?
Polishing damaged concrete floors is something that is very doable. Many questions must be answered beforehand, like how old is the concrete and are there any foundational issues? Many things may impact the final decision on concrete polishing damaged floors.
It is true that, all concrete can be polished, but it should always be inspected by a professional. In some cases, the concrete is simply too far gone and needs to be replaced completely.
